Luke, You Have Nice Aircraft...

Cora and I thought we would go to the Chinese Cultural Center here in Phoenix. We stopped, but realized that it was just a bunch of stores…we could go to Chinatown in Seattle and see much the same thing. And both of us were tired from walking around the DBG. I asked her if she wanted to go find the wild animal park to the West of Phoenix…or drive by Luke AFB. She relented when I explained we would not get out of the car and all she had to do was sit and relax.
We drove west on the hi way…freeway? We ended up where we wanted to go. Just before our exit though, we spied a miracle. A desert mirage. A beautiful thing, until now, only imagined. It was an In and Out Burger!!!! We will definitely be having our fill of burgers before we go home.
We drove past the end of the runway at Luke AFB, which is a base where they train F-16 pilots. As we got closer we saw two F-16s making passes down the field, then at the end of the runway we saw several lined up either spooling down or spooling up. A few landed in front and behind us as we drove along. We managed to snap a few pictures. It was fun to hear them roar.
When we came back we decided to take the “Loop.” Hi way 101 does a giant loop from the southwest side of Phoenix to the north and then down to the southeast side. I thought it might be about the same amount of time as going up through the middle on 51, but it was not. It did however allow different views of the landscape.
We are back now and resting, reading, and posting. It was another fun day here in AZ. Tomorrow is my BIG day. In Tucson we will see the thing I have been waiting for. Pima Air Museum and the Air Force Maintenance and Regeneration Group. AMARG, or also called AMARC, and the Boneyard. Be prepared for tons of pictures of me and Cora in front of aircraft that have not flown in years. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Could you get anymore blue sky in your pictures? I almost didn't see the planes and that would have been a good picture ;] Just kidding. Glad to hear it is a blast amongst all the wrong turns. Look forward to the blog after next, for hopefully that one will contain more pictures of people.

You must be Orville Wright reincarnated. I can't remember the other brother's name so I am going to call you Orville from here on out.
All kidding aside, that place must be impressive. I love the wonderful pictures.
