August 1, 2008. In a few days I will be giving you all a history lesson. It may also seem like a science lesson, given its basis in physics. As I write this now, I am watching Tora, Tora, Tora, the title of a classic movie that describes the events leading up to and the attack on Pearl Harbor. this film was made in the late 1960s. Some parts were actually filmed in Japan and likewise at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The word Tora is Japanese for Tiger. The code that was to indicate a successful attack on the island. I much prefer this 40 year old movie to the more recent Pearl Harbor. The latter was far too focused on the main characters and it tended to fuzz up history. I don't agree with that, and I am sure most of you are surprised. The attack on Pearl Harbor began the war. President Roosevelt addressed congress just the next day on December 8th, 1941. This was his famous "Day of Infamy" speech. What does this, you ask, have to do with the first few days of August? I will tell you...on August 6th. Until then you can look it up yourself or simply wait for the fire works.
Today, I went to work and helped my Father-In-Law. We inspected the beginnings of Moxee's Hop Festival. It is about 36 hours of drunken partying. Cora and i generally take a short walk down and then go home, making sure to step out the back door and watch the fireworks at 10 pm.
I also went to the doctor. I had to get checked for the adoption. Guess what!? I am alive...she finally found my pulse...took her long enough. The doctor was very nice and pronounced me fit.
We had initially planned on attending a picnic for our adoption agency, but we probably won't. We might do other things, though...I will keep you posted...or maybe i will just keep posting. That's it for now, I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.
