Finally Friday!

What to do with the weekend? I am not sure. I suppose I could take a day and go wreckchasing, but I hate to just leave for a whole day when there are things to be done at the house.

Maybe I can just go for a short forray toward Zillah and find some old people to talk to about the gunnery range there...hmmm, or find out where "Mrs. Ted Johnson" lived in 1945...an airplane went down not too far away and I am itching to discover where exactly. Wonder if Zillah has a Museum or a historical society...guess I'd better do some research.

Today, well, it's Friday!!! I love Fridays. That means the Weekend is within reach.

It has been warm in the afternoons and cool in the mornings this week. Yesterday was the first time I wore full length pants in probably two months. Not that you need that info, but I thought it was an interesting insight on my sense of summer fashion.

Well, I need to head for work and see what needs to be done today...for some reason, I suspect I will find myself used for hard labor...hope not.

Friday!

Not much has been hppening. I tried to call the Ageny yesterday, but the agency head was "on the phone" and would have to call me back..he never did. I will be calling again today to make sure he has not forgotten how annoying I can be when he has not talked to me for awhile.

It's been a pretty good week. I went to bed really early last night...and could have slept longer this morning. I am definitely getting tired of moving furniture, boxes, and whatever else the school needs moved. Weird stuff, too, sometimes.

Well, I need to get moving, but I hope everyone has a good weekend. I want to do something...different.

Dogs Days of Summer

Usually, summer here means nifty cloudless days and heat! Today, I stayed home and watched the clouds just to the north of us build to a crescendo. I could see the clouds, cumulus, building and boiling. Then I thought about a clever feature on our camera that allows time lapse photography. I tried it hand held, but that was not perfect. I went to the shed and dug out a tripod...I have a few...never know where they all are at once, but usually I can locate one. -Sorry, I digress. I used the tripod to settle the camera so I could take some time lapse video of the clouds. Here is what I got...it was well past the best of the cloud building activity...but there is always tomorrow!
So, for dinner I marinated some chicken breasts. I had my charcoal ready to go. I began to get the grill going. I had hoped to beat the rain. I did not. So, I was determined to stand by the grill until it was lit. I got out the umbrella, just in case. Sure enough, the inconsistent drops turned more consistent. AND INSISTANT! Soon, While I sat under the tree and an umbrella, Toby came up to me. He had been running around the yard looking up and around as the thunder rolled. The thunder, by the way, was consistent! Costant. -but, I digress again. As the the rain grew more insistant, Toby came up to me and looked at me. He looked at me in such a way as to suggest, without vocalization, that he was lookng for a spot out of the rain, and could he please come up? I suggested to him, vocally, since I can't manage Dog Sign Language(DSL), that he go inside. He looked at me as if to say, "If you are staying out here, SO AM I, DAD!" "Fine," I said, "Come on up!!" He did. Have a look at Cora's blog, she has a video of me and Toby, sitting in the chair under and umbrella in the rain next to the grill.
The rain kept coming down. So, I eventually gave up. Cora turned on the oven...or should I say switched it on... and I cooked the breasts in the oven. They turned out great. Of course, having given up on the charcoal, I walked out expecting to see it soaked, but far from it, it was glowing a beautiful red! Figures. I poured some water on them and went back inside.
This is what I saw when I got there.
Did I mention DOG DAYS?
He must be the cutest Jack Russell ever.
I dropped off my application and resume at a local school today. They had an opening for a social studies position! RARE opportunity!!
I just asked Cora if Opportunity had two "P's" in it. She said, "You down with O. P. P..." And I joined in, "Yeah, I'm down with O.P.P...." and we just confirmed to ourselves that we grew up in the early 1990s! If you graduated around 1990, you will surely know what we are referring to. Cora just googled it, it means Other People's Property! Ha! I never knew that!
Well, I need to relax with the last of my wine! Good night!

Out with th Old and Decrepit...

Yesterday morning, as I sat there looking at the computer for a job, it dawned on me how nice it would be to not have to do that. Then a job came up and I could not follow that thought further. It was a 1/2 day. I don't usually take half days, but it was the Friday before Memorial Day and I figured that was probably all I could manage so late in the morning. So, I took it. Fifteen minutes later I received an e-mail telling me I had been requested for a full day job Of course, I had already accepted the first one, and though I could have cancelled that one, I don't do that, and there was no guaranteeing the other would still be there when I did. Oh, well, I got to only work a half day on the Friday before Memorial Day...I can't complain about that. I also managed to fill up next week...completely.

Cora and I went to town to get a few things a little after noon and ended up looking at Washers and Dryers. The ones we have appear to be on their last legs. I have had to tear them apart to fix things that seem to break with increasing regularity and laundry then piles up. With a little one coming, it might be nice not to have to worry about that. Also, it takes 2 to 3 dryer cycles to dry one small batch of clothing, and though summer is coming and we can now put stuff on the line, it would be SO nice to have a washer and dryer that did their job. Every time there is a breakdown, it takes two or three days to catch back up. Everytime I fix something it costs a small fortune to buy the part and five days for shipping. So, we are leaning toward a new pair with greater and greater intent to purchase. We also thought, given this weekend, we might find some better bargains...it looks as though we might.

Then we went to the fabric shop for more thread and the nursery for a couple more cucumber plants. We lost a couple of the ones we had planted and we really like fresh cucumbers. The tomatoes and squash are coming along great and the herbs are already finding their way into our cooking.

So, my job this weekend will probably be to clean out the laundry room, now. It is one of those rooms in the house that does more than its share of collecting junk. So, it will be more than a small job! I also need to change the tire on one of the cars so I can get it moved and maybe for sale...why do we have two cars that we don't drive? I guess because I am lazy... Cora has plans to work on few more dresses and I believe she will probably find herself roped into helping move things from the laundry room...

So, this promises to be a weekend full of work and new appliances...but, I have a feeling we will throw some fun in somewhere!

Fire

There is a brilliant "Rolling Stones'" song that includes the lyrics: "Don't play with me, 'cause you're playin' with fire." I just want to go on record that my Dad loses every chess game that he plays with me (O.k., maybe I let him have a couple to keep him going...). Here he is in the depths of loss! See his absolute depair? Sad, I know. I suppose I don't have to show the picture, but he does look a little dejected. Ah, the pleasure of putting him in his place! Wah ha ha ha ha!!!

Here is Toby, apparently tired! Look at the way he looks like he might be straight upright! He isn't, he's on his side. Pathetic. Ah, I love owning pets.

I subbed in music for the third day in a row. It was a pretty good! I have enjoyed it this week. The kids are actually really good. There are two classes that have had horrid times in music lately. Twice in a row! That's hard with me (I am usually too nice). Still, they did better today since their teachers had obviously threatened them. I was amused.

I mowed the lawn. I watered the garden and Cora worked on her dresses. I cut some BBQ pork and that is what we had for dinner, though Cora was going to make Friend Rice...turns out we weren't hungry after the pork...still, the fried rice will make a good meal on Sunday or Monday.

Is it Friday yet?

Friday Has Arrived, Let's Get It Over With!

Ah, I can see it coming in the air today. Friday. I get to sub at the El today. This is Teacher Appreciation Week, so I am getting a few of the benfits. It was Soup at the "Evil I" this week. Who knows what the wonderful teachers will have at the El today! Either way, though, Fridays are always a pleasure at the El (food always makes the day go better!).

I got a few more aircraft accident reports that are post-1955. One is for a B-52 that went down near Yuba City. Yuba City is the sister city of Marysville, which is where we lived for two years...I wish I had known of it at the time...but my wreckchasing abilities are still young and I doubt I would have been able to locate it then, let alone now. I will likely be getting a few more reports up this coming week on my airplane site. I am amazed at the number of hits I keep getting since a slow start last Spring. I have slowly added more and more content to it. I am also geting an idea of what is working and what is not. I have gotten lots of compliments on my airplane site...but what are they gonna say? Nah, that site sucks! Still, it seems to be a place of interest for people. I hope my three readers will tell nyone hey know about it who might be interested.

Well, I have a painting to ship today. I will have it packaged up and ready to go this afternoon...after work. Post office doesn't open until I am gone to work.

I lost my sea urchin this week...I have no idea why, but he died. All my water parameters appear to be in the norm and actually healthy...good thing I removed him from the tank, as his death made the water in the hospital container a nasty hazy brown...I am not impressed with dead sea urchins...they don't smell very good either, if anyone is interested. Cora's Coral Tank is alive and well and looking good! The two fish we put in a few weeks ago seem to be getting on well and, apart from the skunk clown apparently not being particularly brilliant, prospering.

The sun is out and I am looking forward to a wonderful spring day! I hope everyone else enjoys a similar day.

Musical Friday

It's Friday! I am SOOOOOoooooo happy about that. Last night I must hve drank too much iced tea. My eyes popped open at 130AM and I could not get back to sleep again until 430AM. Alas, I tried to get to sleep a few times before that, but it didn't work. At least I did not wate that time. I posted a lengthy accident report on my airplane site. It was a mid-air collision between a B-52 and a KC-135 if anyone is curious. I know you're not, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Well, I am off to be music teacher today at the El. I always have fun at the El. I did not work yesterday, but Cora wasn't sad. She had a built in housecleaner yesterday. Yeah, me again. Oh well. It looks better.

I think we finally figured out what was wrong with one of the Corals...it needs to be fed regularly. Darn...I hope kids don't need that.

Friday, Why Didn't You Come Earlier!!?!

I subbed the same old JROTC classes as yesterday, but today, I seemed to have pulled muscle...yikes! My calf muscle was the poor bastard that suffered. OH MY GOOGLE!! It hurts! Everytime I put weight on my right foot it runs up my leg into my calf nd makes me cry like a girl! A little girl! OUCH!!

Still, managed to take Cora's car in and have the snow tires taken off. It took forever! Then I got dinner. Then I bought some adult beverages. Then I came home.

Tomorrow, I plan to charge the battery in the Buick and hopefully empty the shed a bit...we shall see.

Bring on the healing weekend! PLEASE!!!!!!

Friday Never Comes Too Soon

Hello Friday! I am so happy to see you. Even if you are a Friday the 13th...

Yes, I have had an interesting week. Problems with the adoption agency and more than normal stresses with kids at the schools, but that is not the reason for my joy of seeing Friday arrive. We all know what follows Friday. Saturday. I get the chance to meet a gentleman I have been in communication with who also likes to hunt down old aircraft wrecks. We are going to go try and find one; he thinks he knows the location. It will also give us a chance to meet and compare notes.

If there is time, I may also drive by Moses Lake and try and have a look at Larson AFB...or what remains of it.

I was about to smck myself in the head last night. I was posting about an airplane wreck and I'd reached the end, but I wanted to look something up in another window...I forgot to change windows! Blogger disappered and the search engine came up as I was realizing my mistake. About 20 minutes later, I stumbled on to it, but I had a little while there where I just knew the stars were against me. So, by way of that, there is a new post up for those of you who enjoy a spot of history written the only way I know how: About Airplnes.

I get to teach at the HS again...strangely I miss the small kids a little. Hopefully this Fridy the 13th does not fulfill any promise of bad luck.

Finally Friday...Again

Seems like Fridays come pretty darned fast around here...so, why dya reckon we ain't got Little Miss here, yet? Oh, well. I guess I have been watching a bit too much "Firefly," it's a showin' in my language...too bad I can't rattle off a bit of Mandarin once in awhile, like the characters on the show. Alas, if you don't know what I am talking about, please have a look at hulu and watch an episode or two.

I taught SPED today...or rather, I learned some about them...as usual. It was a good day. The ladies who work there are the best. They keep me out of trouble, and help me with the kids. I don't honestly know how I'd make it trough the day without those blessed ladies! I leared something about wheelchairs and wheelchair fittings, too, but that is really something best left to the experts.

Cora took the day off and apparently had a great day, have a look here. She mde dinner and I enjoyed a healthy round of seconds...she made her special Rachel Ray Pork Chops...Oh, they were SOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!

The remainder of the evening has been spent watching hulu..Cora has been attempting to catch up to me in the Firefly series...she likes it, too...We might buy the DVD. It's seriously THAT good.

Well, the weekend promises to be lazy...if you can call cleaning at a liesurely pace lazy...alas, it never ends. Well, HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Oh, and why the hell is blogger messing with my spaces? This morning it would not put a space between my paragraphs for a million dollars, this evening it puts in EXTRAS!!! Curse you BLOGGER!!

Lucky Eights!!

So, today is the first day (our time) of the Olympics. Apparently we did well in a soccer game (futball) against Japan. They had the opening ceremonies while I was sleeping and the networks won't show them till tonight.

Here is a little trivia. The Chinese think of the number 8 as a lucky number because it sound like the word for prosperity, and since today is the eighth day of the eighth month of the eighth year of this century, it should be a pretty good Olympics. To say they have pulled out all the stops would appear to be an understatement. What other country can mobile thousands of people to pull algae out of the ocean...we have two fish tanks and sometimes the algae there seems overwhelming. What other country can tell their citizens to stay in to keep congestion down...and expect it to happen? What other country tells its citizens to walk to work instead of drive because it wants to have clean air for the competitors to breathe...mind you, I am not syaing Chinese clean air is the same you would find in Mt. Rainier National Park...I think it is a matter of comparison for them.

Today is FRIDAY!!! If the 8s don't do it, the fact that this is the end of the work week certainly qualifies this as an auspicious occasion. I hope to get my computer today, the guy said he had not quite used an hour on it yesterday and it was not quite up to speed. Apparently the little applications such as scanning a drive and such takes time which they don't charge for since the technician has to wait for it anyway. I just can't wait to get my computer back. I had no idea it would be so long...I miss my little Toshiba Satellite...Now i want to play that Dave Matthew's song...Sat-el-lite...

Well, I will eventually get some video on here...Cora had the computer last night. I was lucky to have the chance to check my mail...she was IM-ing some weirdo in AZ and setting up an Etsy store for her blankets instead of letting me surf the net!

The Chili went over VERY WELL. Not sure what to have tonight...maybe Ki Ki's again...if the computer is done.

I will leave you with a view of Seattle traffic...I wonder how it compares with Beijing's...
