Sunday Streets!
Cora and I decided to go to the Farmers' Market in Yakima. Our own garden seems to be woefully inadequate and slow to form, and we wanted some fresh vegetables. As you can see it is a popular attraction. The menagerie of fruits and vegetables available is intriguing. There are numerous vendors and options available for a visitor to look at and buy. Today, there were a few students that I have taught waiting to sell some raffle tickets...they saw me and descended. I had two bucks, so relented, however, I explained to them we would be at the Hop Festival and to stop in and buy a coloring book.
We wandered the booths and ended up bringing some vegetables home for dinners. It was a good time.
We finally got home and did some chores and we are now relaxing. I expect we will have some cordon bleu tonight and perhaps some fresh vegetables.
I leave you a portrait of the two of us. I eagerly await the arrival of my camera!!
Have a good night!!

Lazy Sunday
So this morning I got up late. I made coffee and then proceeded with my normal morning routine. I spent more time than usual on the internet checking Facebook and blogs and email. Cora joined me shortly after I got the coffee going (that is the only way to get her out of bed-if we ran out of coffee, Cora might never get out of bed. I can't blame her, I'd be much the same, but she has a higher tolerance for caffeine separation than I do...so I HAVE to make it.).
We worked on the house. She wrapped presents and we made an awesome oriental salad (Cabbage salad, but it has oriental noodle flavoring). we got a bit lazy and watched a couple movies. We watched Night at The Museum II and Hangover. Hangover was funny.
Maybe I will secretly attend another showing of AVATAR!!! Don't tell Cora!
And Happy Birthday Granpa.

Sunday Blues
This morning dawned early. Earlier than I wished. I still have this fracking cold. I used some Afrin the other day and my morning symtoms vanished, but more than three days may cause you to become addicted, physically (Trust me, I don't think it is psychologically fun to do). Still, it clears your sinuses REALLY well! I like that. Still, yesterday I needed to stop taking it. So I did. This morning I woke up with a case of the "Horrible Boogers From Outer Space" and shed more than my fair share of nasty boogery things...at about 7AM! I hate 7AM! It was Sun-fricking-day, why in the name of all that is sleepy did I HAVE to wake up before 8???? On A SUNDAY!?! Argh! I hate early Sundays!
Then Cora awoke...about two hours later. I spent the intervening time sitting outside in a lawn chair, reading. I had coffee, a comfortable chair, and a good book. I have been re-reading "When Thunder Rolled." It's a good book about F-105 pilots during the Vietnam War. It was a warm morning. The thermometer said 75...I was more than happy to sit outside and read. The hot coffee helped. I also made sure that my feet were in the sunlightg longest, my socks made a white cutoff on my feet. So, I was tryng to remedy that situation. Then Cora got up. I made her coffee and then went back out for awhile. All-in-all, it wasn't a bad way to start a day.
It was sometime after 930 when my mother-in-law called to ask for help movng some furniture out of her Dad's place. Cora and I left and spent a few hours helping out. It was a good day. We were done by about 2pm and I came home. Then, after a short rest, I put together a shelf we had bought yestreday. Here is the picture.

Here are the Squash we planted a few weeks ago. Look how they have grown!

I went out to take a picture when I noticed Toby digging in the garden, but being extremely careful not to touch the electric fence, which happens NOT to be on, still, it's cute.

I barbequed a steak and some squash and zucchini again. I can't show pictures because it is all gone, we ate it.

Sunday Evening Blues
I have enjoyed this weekend very much. I think it has been the change in the weather. I feel really good. I have a little of my cold still hanging on, but overall, very good! I absolutely love the sunlight!
So, today I was extra ambitious (well, for me, I was ambitious). I started by raking some of the mess up in the back yard, dead twigs and stuff. Then I mowed the lawn, fertilized just a smidgin, and watered it. I did some other chores and then painted this.

I am not particularly pleased with it. I was going for a boy's monogram, but I m not certain that the jet works...it seems, as Cora so acurrately put it, that the jet is attacking the tractor... oh, well, back to the drawing board, so to speak.
I am still waiting for a job for tomorrow. I hope it comes along. I like having them ahead of time, then I don't have to worry so much about it...
Cora, on the other hand, has been a dress making fool! She has made a couple good ones tonight. I think I am going to go through my accident reports and fix some of the holes...they are getting tattered...
We continue to wonder about Burundi. What exact size is the little boy in Burundi...Cora bought a few different sizes to be on the safe side. What's the weather there? Turns out it's something like 80 degrees year around. What do we take? Who knows. Hopefully we will soon.

Sunday Night Blues
Sunday night has arrived. We have to work tomorrow, hence the blues. I work at TH as the PE teacher, which will no doubt find me sore in afternoon. Cora has to go back to the same old same old. Ah, if only weekends were longer.
Speaking of weekends, I have spent a pretty good one! I found a wreck on Saturday. Today...we went shopping and came home and did a little work and then we both puttered on a bit with our own chosen hobbies. Cora dress making...me designing pictures to paint. Cora has a few she picked out that she thinks will be good. I am envisioning children's walls. The one I am excited to get on with is longer than it is wide and will be of a Calvin nd Hobbes flavor spaceship (candy-apple red, "yeah, he took the red one.") and a planet or two in the background. The other, so far, will be a Chinese dragon looking over his shoulder...except Chinese dragons are pretty serpent-like...so, probably not accurate to call it a shoulder...maybe more like craning his neck...anyway, yeah. I am also thinking about a panda and a tiger...as soon as I perfect my tiger. Maybe a giraffe as soon as I get one by Cora's quality control.
We also watched Serenity the movie. It was on the Sci-Fi channel a few weeks back, but we had not seen the show it was based on, so it didn't really make sense. Now we have...and it does. Well, it makes MORE sense than it did.
Well, I am ready to hit the hay and go teach tomorrow...nah...that's a lie. I am wide awake and I don't want to work tomorrow!

Who, Lou? Hoo Loo? Hulu...Hello?!
Today, Sunday, February 22, 2009 was spent doing some relaxing. We did do something exciting: we bought a rice cooker. We like rice, but, for me, it is a hit and miss affair. Sometimes I get it right, others...well, we don't eat rice a lot. So, with any luck, we will be eating rice a lot more.
Cora did some stuff with the computer, while I worked on mine...I don't know about her, but I was playing games. Oh, and I have discovered Hulu...I was able to find the IMAX movie we got to see in Sacramento. "Fighter Pilot; Red Flag" It's a good movie, and I was surprised that it was not as jumpy and twitchy as I expected it to be on my computer. Even the sound was good! Usually, if I watch anything with sound on my computer it is chopped and difficult to understand...it's almost like my computer cannot decide which to play, so it does them in turn...except with this Hulu thing! Awesome! I watched another one called "Speed and Angels." I recommend that one, too!
So, since the majority of my day was spent either on the computer or napping next to it, I have a photo that was taken from my chair. I don't think I have posted pictures of the fishtank lately...t least not since the sudden suicide of its last fishy inhabitant. So, here we have a few corals and polyps.
Oh, and Cora cooked a delicious looking "Shephard's Pie" for dinner...I will verify its taste in a few minutes! Boy, CAN SHE COOK! She always dazzles me when she makes dinner! I'm just lucky that way; that's how I roll.

Air Fore One Joins Sunday One!
So, it was a wonderful lazy day! A nice lazy Sunday! Fit for a king! I love those. Cora worked on her sewing and I changed the water in the fish tanks. The inhabitants of both tanks seem much relieved to be swimming in clear water! I was pleased to be able to confirm that some inhabitants remained.
Cora left for awhile to help her mother with some computer issues. While she was gone I watched some TV and cleaned up a bit. When she returned we watched a few of MY shows! We saw a National Geographic show about a Giant Crystal Cave in Mexico and a show about Air Force One. Both very good, and if Cora was faking interest, she did it very well.

I also rented StepBrothers...
Now, if you don't mind some rough language, and I can handle it, THAT is a fantastically FUNNY movie! I heartily recommend it so long as your ears are not too sensitive!

Now we are watching a special on Marine One. I won't mention the one nod to Cora's viewing preferences...the Duggar...gag...Wedding. That was...interesting. I think I will stick to my airplane shows.
Tomorrow I am back to the second graders I had the other day. Should be good!

Victorious...In Dinner!
It was a beautiful day. Cora and I finally got the shopping done and then went down to visit with my parents. My dad decided to play few games of chess with me. Here you can see him sizing up the situation.
I took a few of his favorite pieces and it looked good for me. Then I let my attention lapse and I lost a few of MY favorite pieces, then the board looked thus:
I was black...I managed to fight this one to a stalemate. I losta few and won one or two. I don't often win, but I do enjoy losing.
.
My dad and I went geocaching and found three. Cora and my mom did a little shopping. We lso got some visiting in. It was a good day.
.
When we got home this was waiting:
We had put a ham in the crockpot before we left. And it was done when we got back...Oh, and delicious! Highly edible! This may not be the best picture, but, boy, was it GOOD!

Laser Designator and LEDs
What to say? We were exceptionally lazy this morning, but, looking back at the past few Sunday posts, I think that just may be our norm. We did eventually roll out of our chairs and get dressed. We even cleaned the house (a woman screams and swoons in the back of the audience). Now, now, don't get your hopes up, we vacuumed and picked up (moans) a little(more moans).

See the strange orbs in the next photo? I think it's proof of dust, but Cora considers them ectoplasmic in origin. (I am going to stop recording Ghosthunters!)
Instead of dinner, we chose to try some of the cheeses I purchased on Thursday, and little bit of BBQ pork. One of them was APPLEWOOD smoked and handrubber with Paprika! Mmmm-mmm good!!! Note, Toby is just outside of the range of my kick...he's a smart one.
Thus, it has been a nice, relaxing day. As ever, Sunday is TOO short, but that, too, appears to be the norm.
We did go to town. We found some sales and bought a few Christmas presents(I hope you ll want Toilet Paper for Christmas!). I also found some battery operated LED lights...my mind flashed(get it?FLASHED? LIGHTS?) to my model spaceships. So, tonight, I worked at building a ship that might incorporate these nifty little LEDs. What do you think? This is an engine nacelle:
The deflector of the starboard engine has not been glued on yet, so it looks, um, not quite right. Actually, you will need to use ALOT of imagination at this point. Trust me, it WILL look like a spaceship...eventually.
Yesterday, as I related, we found some treasure left by my BNL and Sister with our GPS. One of the pieces of treasure was a combination laser pointer/flashlight. I played with it for a bit, then Cora noticed it and stole it. She then proceeded to point out every little thing to me. "Jim, I want you to tke THAT bottle of wine and refill THAT glass." Everytime she said THAT the laser was designating it, in good military fashion, as though a laser guided bomb might be coming in. Unfortunately, she was not worried about "friendlies," and actually seems to prefer to designate frindly targets. "Look, THAT's a camera!"
The dog has become a fan of cop docu-dramas and is familiar with the laser pointers attached to SWAT guns...see how he attempted to play dead?
Cora did some laundry and decided to play Ghost, but she is NO Patrick Swazey and we don't have a clay turning wheel...at least she did not sing "Henry The Eighth I Am." This is as good as it got:
