Blowing Off Man Steam

Ahh, man-toys.

 I got the chance to blow off some steam the other day.  A friend of mine works at a local pawn shop and is something of a gun nut.  I always enjoy shooting, so I jumped at the chance to see what he had.  I took my meager collection and we met up and had a great time.

They had a stock called "Slidefire" on one AK and the AR-15.  This stock uses recoil and the shooter to cause the gun to jerk back and forth firing itself in a manner consistent with full-auto.  It was a kick in the ass! I haven't had so much fun for a long time!  It was also an effective way to piss through loads of ammunition.  I underestimated how much was needed, but the guys spotted me some and we had a lot of fun!

The clack-clack-clack of the AK-47, the tut-tut-tut of the AR-15, and the clang-clang-clang of the M-14 were nothing to the SONIC BOOM from the Mosin Nagant.  Couple with the ball of fire that comes from that cannon you would be hard pressed to find a more impressive surplus firearm for under $200.

At one point the AK was so hot after having a few hundred rounds fired through it, that my friend simply threw it in the snow.  A testament to the AK is it's toughness and ability to fire in horrible conditions...it survived.  

I had always wanted an AK, assuming it was a sexier version of my beloved SKS.  The SKS fires the same round and is a dream to shoot.  The AK on the other hand is less refined and a little more violent in the shooter's hands.  I think I'll save my money and stick with the SKS.
