I used my Walmart-Special grill that is somewhere between 2 and 5 years old to heat up a few slices of heaven.
first, I set out into the garden, which, while less than perfect, has seen fit to yield four tomatoes, six zucchinis, and numerous small carrots. I withdrew a couple pork chops from the freezer and set them to thawing. I sliced the single zucchini, which promises to be the last for awhile, and seasoned it. I also cleaned the dozen or so small carrots I pulled.
Just about then, Cora walked in the door. I proceeded to pour some lemon juice, whole-grain mustard, brown sugar and a few spices into the back with the pork chops. Cora raised her eyebrows and asked if i was using a recipe. I replied that no, I was not. She then expressed doubt about my abilities and the appropriateness of me NOT using a recipe. I think she may have doubted my intelligence. I went ahead and continued cooking.
I got the coals nice and hot and then put the chops on. then. after I got those started put the zucchini and the last pepper I bought at the farmer’s market. I smoked them with a mixture of mesquite and hickory.
Can I just say it turned out delicious and even Cora was surprised!!! So, that’s it. Yummy dinner!
We have been thinking long and hard about the adoption. We are not having an easy time.
the weather continues to be nearly perfect! I sat out in the backyard drinking a beer and reading a book. Life is pretty good.
